It may not be necessary to tout the nightlife in Amsterdam, as the city is widely known as a serious party destination. Let’s just say that you won’t be stuck for somewhere to go – and that goes for everyone, so don’t worry if the more sordid side of Amsterdam nightlife doesn’t appeal to you. There are lots of options for more mainstream nighttime entertainment – theatre, opera, live music gigs, nightclubs, bars and cafés abound in the city, and there is something to appeal to most tastes.
The dining scene in Amsterdam is diverse and interesting, with Surinamese, Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Middle Eastern and European restaurants all within easy reach. And the Amsterdam staple of Vlaamse Frites (large, thick chips served with mayonnaise) is to be found everywhere and is as cheap as – well – chips… For a high end dining experience, the expensive restaurants around Utrechtse Straat offer beautiful food in luxurious surroundings.
