Montego is an important and popular stop for those on the Bob Marley trail in Jamaica. The resort’s Bob Marley Experience features a theatre and memorabilia complex devoted to the island’s most famous reggae star. However, for a true insight into the singer’s life story it’s worth making the pilgrimage to the village of Nine Mile, situated 65km from the port town of Ocho Rios. This is where the singer spent his childhood and visitors today are free to explore the two-roomed shack that was once his home, as well as the mausoleum where Marley and his half brother are buried.
