Advice for Renting a Car at Porto Airport:
In Portugal, cars drive on the right hand side of the road. Car rental companies have age restrictions so you may be charged extra if you are younger than the minimum age or older than the maximum age. Generally speaking, the minimum age for renting a car in Portugal is 18 and a driver must have held a licence for a minimum of two years without any endorsements. However, this is not the case for all companies – some have set the age limit at 21. Visitors may use their national licence, provided it is printed in a language that uses the Roman alphabet. If your licence uses a different alphabet you will require an International Driving Permit in English. By law, you’re required to carry your licence with you at all times.Like many large cities, traffic in Porto can be heavy at times and parking spaces are scarce in some areas. A number of car parks are located around the city centre, while hotels often provide parking spaces. One of the most interesting destinations for excursions in Porto is the Douro Valley. It has been a UNESCO World heritage site since 2001. The valley has been producing port wine since 1756. Several of the estates in the valley offer wine tasting. Meanwhile, the surrounding scenery is spectacular.
