Puerto Vallarta is a great base from which to explore the wonderful sights of the surrounding landscape.  A hire car gives you the freedom to discover the charms of the nearby fishing village of Bucerias as well as the town of Mismaloya, renowned as the setting for the motion picture “The Night of the Iguana”. 

The resort of Puerto Vallarta always has a buzz about it but especially so when lively events and festivals like Puerto Vallarta Gourmet Festival (November) and Puerto Vallarta Film Festival (also November) roll into town.  Other annual calendar highlights include Fiestas Patrias (Mexico’s Independence Day) in September and December’s Surf Classic in Sayulita.
