Monday, May 17th, 2010 in Localiza was established in 1973, around the time of the oil crisis. The company started out with just six Volkswagen Beetles which it bought on credit. By the time the second oil crisis struck, the company decided to expand and began buying out its competitors. Acquisitions took place in 11 capitals, especially in the Northeast and Brazil.
By 1998, Localiza had converted its fleet rental division into a seperate company which it called Total Fleet. This company was a pioneer in its segment in Brazil.
