According to ArgusCarHire.com, it is Spanish resorts that are coming under particular pressure, with fleets in Ibiza, Menorca, Mallorca, Alicante, Malaga and Murcia selling out fast.

Spain’s low availability problems arise from fleet cuts introduced by major car rental agencies after last year’s worldwide downturn in the car manufacturing industry. From today, ArgusCarHire.com will offer advice and accept bookings from customers who have been let down by the closure of SkyCars.com.

Skycars announced that it is ceasing operations earlier today through a statement on its website saying:

“It is with great regret that we have to announce that we have had to cease trading due to recent cash flow difficulties. Therefore we cannot accept any further bookings.

“If you have made a reservation through us and have either paid in full or a deposit, you should have received an e-mail from us informing you of the position and you will have to make another reservation through another provider.

“If you are owed money you will receive a further communication in due course.”
