Wednesday, August 24th, 2011 by,

Dublin, Ireland, August 25th 2011: Leading European car rental site ArgusCarHire.com is delighted to announce details of its budget-friendly transport and accommodation offers for rugby fans heading to New Zealand this September and October.

Price savvy supporters can choose between a new ‘Super Saver’ range of cars and a selection of fully fitted out camper cars available now to rent in New Zealand through ArgusCarHire.com.

The Super Saver car rental New Zealand cars debut just in time for the September 9th kick-off and are the ideal option for those planning to travel from stadium to stadium in the most cost effective way possible. Some of these cars may already have clocked up 150,000 miles, but all come with assurances that they have been properly serviced and maintained.

Meanwhile, anyone struggling to secure low-cost hotels and transfers in New Zealand will find Argus Car Hire’s range of camper cars provides the ultimate transport and accommodation solution. Camper cars offer all the features you would expect from a camper van, neatly contained within a comfortably-sized automatic car. They are currently available to rent in either 2 berth or 4 berth models. The 2 berth models are fitted with every modern convenience including: cooker, chill box fridge, double bed, DVD player, CD player, sink with water tank, bed linen, pots, pans and kitchen utensils. The larger 4 berth models come complete with two double beds, cooker, fridge, sink, flat screen DVD player, bed linen and kitchen essentials to help make the trip as enjoyable as possible.

With accommodation and transport all in-one, supporters can save their money for match tickets and socializing, rather than worrying about accommodation or the costs of getting from A to B. New Zealand is renowned for its first-class campsites and outdoors lifestyle, so visitors who take advantage of these promotions should look forward to an enjoyable touring holiday.”

Brits Map Out their Ideal Holiday

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011 by,

A recent survey relating to trends in holiday behaviour by Beat the Brochure, has revealed what British holidaymakers would consider their ideal holiday this year. Old favourites top the list, namely sand, sea and sun.  It was also discovered that holidaymakers from the UK have become a little more specific when it comes to their expectations of a holiday, taking into consideration the temperature differences, the time of year and the length of their stay as being the most important aspects to weigh-up.

Some very specific needs were identified by Beat the Brochure.  Daniel Ox a representative from the company said “This new study, which questioned 2 000 British holidaymakers, has shown that Brits have become a lot more specific in their holiday wants”.  He went on to point out that although a 2-week break in Europe was still the most popular choice for families from the UK to make, what was more important to highlight was the fact that the study identified the perfect temperature which was expected on a holiday, to be 27 degrees – while holidaymakers want at least 9 hours of sunlight per day during their time away.

These exact specifications for factors which are impossible to control like temperature and the number of hours of sunlight per day, point towards a more expectant type of holidaymaker, which also suggests that a certain amount of research is being done before a holiday is booked.  The study also revealed that, on average, a British holidaymaker didn’t mind travelling far from home but only where the maximum flying time, if they flew to their destination, was less than 5 hours.  This restriction on hours spent cooped up in an aeroplane, means that holidaymakers are limited to countries within Europe – disqualifying destinations like the Canary Islands or places where high temperatures and long, sunny days are guaranteed.

British holidaymakers also didn’t want to travel very far from the arrival airport at their destination – the ideal distance being 22 minutes, which would be travelled in their hire car.  Respondents to the Beat the Brochure survey also revealed that during their 2-week holiday, on average 4 days would be spent sunbathing at the hotel pool, with a further 4 days being spent on local trips to attractions and places of interest and scenic beauty.  Shopping for souvenirs and gifts would take up a further 2 days and the balance of days would be spent on various other activities.

While respondents seem to be pretty set on what their expectations of what a holiday should be like, they are still quite happy to book traditional European holidays which they know will at least meet most of their expectations, revealing that Europe is still one of the most popular destinations for British travellers.

Around 12,500 airport staff had threatened 22 days of industrial action, beginning in the run-up to Easter and continuing throughout the summer. The strikes would have caused major disruption and would have cancelled hundreds of flights for holidaymakers travelling to and from Spain.

Now that the strikes have been averted, Argus Car Hire is urging customers to avail of great value car rental deals in Spain including:

Alicante
 £12

Malaga
 £12

Murcia
 £12

Barcelona

Renting a car in Murcia means the sun-soaked beaches of La Costa Cálida (The Hot Coast) are never far away. Murcia basks in 3000 hours of sunshine every year, and with 250km coastline, you can take your pick from secluded coves and sweeping bays. There’s much more to Murcia than its beaches however. The city of Murcia has a long and colourful history which is well worth exploring. Nearby towns such as Lorca, make for memorable daytrips too. Lorca’s main tourist attraction is La Fortaleza del Sol, an impressive medieval castle situated in the centre of the city. Visitors may also step back in history at the Workshop in Time, a living museum portraying life in Lorca during the Roman and Moorish eras.

The Peljesac Channel slices the peninsula from the island of Korcula, scattering a cluster of charming little villages and hamlets across the foothills of the Dolomites. Spend some time wandering the pine and cypress groves or explore the derelict villas and wild gardens. From here, the old seafaring town of Orebic is only a few minutes’ drive away and a great place to stop for lunch and shopping. If you’re feeling adventurous, venture further to Viganj, the home of windsurfing in Croatia. Look out for the islands of Korcula and Mljet across the channel.
