Introduction

This small city is located in the San Fernando Valley in California and is considered as “The Media Capital of the World” owing to it being the home to several studio headquarters, including Disney, NCB Universal and Warner Brothers. Burbank is an excellent base for exploring other areas of California such as Los Angeles as well as numerous tourist attractions throughout the state.
Burbank is also home to some excellent American diners and eateries such as the infamous Bob’s Big Boy which dates back to 1936 serving up classic American dishes. The city also boasts a vibrant music scene, with live performances taking place at numerous venues such as the Baked Potato – a music venue located a stone’s throw from Universal Studios.

Highlights & Hotspots

Movie buffs and families with kids of all ages will love taking a trip to Universal Studios in Hollywood. This working movie studio is home to numerous rides, live action shows and other movie-based attractions.
Alternatively, take the Warner Brothers’ VIP Studio Tour located in Burbank, where you’ll take a guided tour the various soundstages and production areas. There’s also an excellent museum where you can learn the history of the studio.
No trip to Burbank would be complete without indulging in the finest cuisine on offer at Bob’s Big Boy. This vintage diner has become something of national landmark. Built in the 50s, this is the only way to enjoy that all-American dining experience!
Another popular attraction is the Martial Arts History Museum, which uses an array of exhibits to explore the relationship between Asian and American history, not to mention sports such as Taekwondo and Kung-Fu.

Important things to note

Burbank is ideally located with excellent transport links to Los Angeles, Hollywood and Anaheim.
Avoid driving in Burbank or in and around Los Angeles during morning and evening rush hours as traffic tends to be very congested which can lead to very long delays.
Take care when driving on Freeways in and around Los Angeles, and stay in the slower lanes on the right, as many local drivers typically drive 20mph over the speed limit.

Bob Hope Airport is located three miles north of Burbank city centre and mainly serves flights to other cities across the United States. It can be reached from West Empire Avenue, which goes onto the I-5.
The closest major international airport to Burbank is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is located approximately 28 miles from Burbank and is accessible via the I-5 S and I-110 S interstates.
