Important things to note

As the centre of the town is primarily pedestrianized, travelling through the town centre by car can be difficult. It is advisable that drivers keep to the outskirts then walk to the centre.
Parking spots are hard to come by, especially at weekend. Surfers often dominate the parking spaces near the beach daily, though parking can be easier during afternoons.
Biarritz is within driving distance of many places within France, including Paris. There are many direct routes on the road to several major cities, along with Spain as well.

Highlights & Hotspots

The beaches throughout the town are of the highest standard and can be enjoyed by everyone. The central beach is called Grand Plage and is the beach that enjoys the most visitors, though for something quieter, try Esplanade du Porte Vieux which is particularly good for swimming.
Surfing is a hugely popular pastime in Biarritz mainly due to the clear waters. Cote de Basque is a particularly popular surfers beach which is located on the beautiful Boulevard du Prince de Galles, while the neighbouring beaches at Anglet are also of an excellent condition and accessible by car.
The Museum of the Sea is ideally located in Biarritz and is home to a vast number of sea creatures. Fish, sharks and seals are amongst the wildlife on show, while the museum also has exhibitions narrating the fishing industry in the area and the history of whaling.
The nightlife is very popular as there are a number of bars and restaurants to enjoy at all times of the evening. There are numerous restaurants and pizzerias to indulge in, while the nightclub Le Copa is sure to please any party animal.

Airport Information

Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne International Airport is located 3km (almost two miles) outside of the city centre, making it very convenient.
Despite being so close to the city centre, plenty of extra time should be given to those travelling as there are numerous regular flights from around Europe to the airport, meaning it can be quite busy.
