Introduction

Formerly a sleepy small town in County Kildare, Naas has grown over the past couple of decades to become a major commuter town for people who work in Dublin. Its handy location beneath the N7 has helped to see Naas grow without it losing its old identity, as a walk down the High Street will no doubt tell you. People come to the town for a number of reasons such as getting away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin, walks in the Kildare countryside and, of course, horseracing. It also has a number of cultural events on including one of Ireland’s largest outdoor music festivals and has plenty of business parks on its outskirts providing plenty of local employment opportunities.

Highlights & Hotspots

Naas has two nearby racecourses – Naas and Punchestown. The latter hosts the Punchestown Festival, one of the biggest race meetings in the country which is held for a week every April. Naas Racecourse has plenty of big races too.
A major pull to the town is the Oxegen Festival, held just outside Naas. Attracting some of the world’s biggest pop and rock bands, Oxegen is held on the second weekend of July, attracting tens of thousands of fans.
Roughly five miles from the centre of Naas is the CityWest hotel complex. Among other things, it hosts live music concerts and sports such as darts, snooker and netball, all played in front of a live audience of thousands.
Golfers in Naas will be spoilt for choice. Craddockstown Golf Club to the south, Naas Golf Club and Palmerstown House Golf Club are just three local courses of note. Be sure to book in advance if you want to play a round.
