Important things to note

Be aware of kerbside colours denoting the type of parking permitted in certain areas. Blue and white, for example, signifies that pre-paid card must be bought from a kiosk, petrol station or post office prior to parking your vehicle.
Reckless driving is a widespread practice, therefore driving around the city with caution is strongly advised.
Jerusalem is situated on a mountain, so be prepared to tackle your fair share of hill starts!

Highlights & Hotspots

Arguably the most popular tourist attraction in Jerusalem, the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial is a 45 acre site made up of several museums, gardens and memorials amongst other things. The site has been heralded as the world’s leading national Holocaust museum and, as a result of this accolade, is well worth a visit.
To keep the children entertained, head to the Tisch Family Zoological Gardens. The zoo is located within a beautiful setting and is home to almost 150 species which are either endangered or referred to in the Bible. The site offers stunning view and makes for the ideal place to enjoy a leisurely stroll, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Just outside the ancient city walls you will find the Garden of Gethsemane. This idyllic site comprises a grove of olive trees and is particularly popular with members of the Christian faith, as it is the place where Jesus is believed to have prayed. Guided tours offered and are especially useful for large groups visiting the garden.

Airport Information

Situated roughly 55km west of Jerusalem, The Ben Gurion International Airport is Jerusalem’s closest airport. It is regarded as one of the world’s most secure airports and offers flights to a number of worldwide destinations.
Access to the airport by car is straightforward due to its close proximity to the motorway which connects Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The Number 1 Highway is just to the south.
