Car Hire Brindisi

The port town of Brindisi, is situated in Apulia region of Italy (on the heel of the boot) and enjoys a Mediterranean climate. It features a charming harbour and seafront area and the palm-lined Corso Garibaldi which connects the port to the train station and makes for a pleasant stroll. The city port has strong trade connections with Greece and the Middle East. Brindisi is within close proximity of cities such as Lecce, Taranto and Bari, but the town has so much to offer that you won’t be in a hurry to leave. The local climate may have something to do with it, as this part of Italy enjoys hot summers and mild winters, aided by the warm air of the Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas.

Ideal car

Given that Brindisi is relatively small and easy to navigate, an economy vehicle is recommended to get you to and from your destination.

Highlights & Hotspots

Brindisi is home to many beautiful churches and cathedrals, many of them centuries old. Castello Svevo was built by Emperor Frederick II around 1227 and is built around a courtyard to form a square trapezoid, surrounded by high walls and a magnificent tower. It was used as a prison during the eighteenth and nineteenth century but is now a major tourist attraction.
You could easily spend a couple of days strolling round the city of Brindisi taking in the ancient architecture, Mussolini statues and pleasant harbour setting. Another interesting and beautiful church to visit is the Tempio di San Giovanni al Sepolcro, which was built to look like a miniature version of The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
Marc’Aurelio is a restaurant and oyster bar located in a stunning building steeped in history. It also has a pleasant garden terrace for a lovely al fresco dining experience. One of their specialities is supome; a delicious, hazelnut ice-cream based dessert.
II Giardino has been running for more than 40 years and is a restored, 15th century palazzo which specializes in both seafood and meat dishes. Visit Casa del Parmigiano, a brilliant cheese shop selling local and national wheels, is also highly recommended.
