Important things to note

Be sure to plan your journey ahead of time as road signage can be confusing – particularly in the city centre.
The roads in Perugia tend to be narrow and cobblestone so it’s advisable to drive slowly and be patient – it might take longer than expected to drive from one part of the city to another.
There is one main car park in the city centre at the Piazza Partigiani, which is mainly used by tourists visiting the old town. As the old town is almost completely inaccessible by car, parking outside the city centre is the best option.

Highlights & Hotspots

Perugia celebrates music and live performances and hosts and hosts the famous Umbria Jazz Festival every summer. The Cinema Teatro del Pavone is a majestic 18th century building and hosts a range of concerts and other cultural events.
Families and chocoholics should visit the Perugia Chocolate Factory. Whilst the factory tour isn’t quite on the scale of Willy Wonka’s, kids and adults will enjoy the guided tour around the factory, seeing how chocolate is made.
The Piazza IV Novembre is home to many cultural areas of interest. The Fontana Maggiore is a historically significant fountain situated in the very centre of the street. You’ll also find the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo along the same street. This stunning building was never completed however inside you’ll discover some impressive sculptures and gothic architecture.
For those wanting to explore the natural landscape here, a trip to Lake Trasimene is a must. This unspoilt land is the perfect place to enjoy the Umbrian scenery and soak up the sun on warm summer days. For more outdoorsy holiday-makers, there are range of cycling and canoeing activities on offer here, too.
