In Armação de Pêra, there are plenty of restaurants and bars where you can while away a lazy afternoon. There are also a handful of historical sites which date back several centuries. Important things to note

Some of the roads in Armação de Pêra are quite narrow and aren’t suitable for larger vehicles. It’s best to go on foot.
The IC4, the main highway going through the Algarve, runs around five miles north of the town, although access is only possible by a couple of routes.
If coming to the town from the IC4, you should do so through Alcantarilha on the N125 then the N269-1.

Highlights & Hotspots

The small town has a number of beaches. The most impressive of the lot is Maré Grande, which spans the central part of the coast. It’s where many of the hotels, bars and pools are, while access by foot and car is easy.
If you fancy staying in the open air when visiting Armação de Pêra, the Camping Canelas site is the best place to go, especially in summer. It has some of the best views of the rural Algarve around, while the site has plenty of facilities to help keep you entertained.
Armação de Pêra is home to the Chapel of Santo António, a local place of worship. Although small in size, it’s one of the finer examples of medieval Portuguese architecture and is easy to tour during most weekdays.
Just a few miles east of the town along the beach, there is a nature reserve. Although fairly low-key in appearance, it is home to many native species of wildlife, flora and fauna which you’re unlikely to see anywhere else in the Algarve, let alone Portugal.

Airport Information

Faro Airport (Aeroporto Internacional de Faro) is 19 miles east southeast of the town in the city of Faro. It’s one of the busiest airports in Portugal, especially in summer where flights from all over Europe board here.
The airport is connected to the N125-10, which then goes onto the N125. Take this road westbound until reaching Alcantarilha. Then, take the road south to the town.
