Car Hire Carlisle

The Cumbrian capital city of Carlisle is a city rich in history, particularly where war is concerned. Due to its geographical location, the city was on the frontline of England’s defences for over a thousand years. Hadrian’s Wall is easily the most famous landmark, which harks back to a time when battles were a part of everyday life, however there are many more dotted around. While the city is not as hip and modern as some of its neighbours such as Newcastle and Gateshead to the east, it is certainly heading in the right direction and has some great shops and restaurants to enjoy alongside its stunning cathedral, park and historical sites. The recently-opened university has helped matters somewhat.
