Highlights & Hotspots

Gloucester Cathedral is a grand yet tranquil building, boasting impressive architecture and intricate stained glass windows. Situated in the north of the city, the cathedral has its own artist in residency and also hosts a number of events throughout the year. Interestingly enough, some of the scenes from the Harry Potter movies were filmed here.
Just a stone’s throw from the cathedral, you’ll find one of the city’s most family friendly attractions; The House of the Tailor of Gloucester. Situated in the exact location where Beatrix Potter is believed to have enjoyed drawing, it was here that she also gathered inspiration to write her favourite book, The Tailor of Gloucester. Entry to the house is free of charge.
Gloucester also has plenty to offer sports enthusiasts. Head down to the Kingsholm Stadium to watch the legendary Gloucester Rugby Union side play against the best that England and Europe has to offer. If you fancy getting active yourself, the city is also home to the largest dry ski slope that England and Wales have to offer!

Airport Information

Gloucestershire Airport is situated between Gloucester and Cheltenham but offers a very limited number of flights, with Belfast, the Isle of Man and Jersey currently being the only three destinations served by this airport.
A greater selection of flights to a range of destinations is, however, available at Bristol and Birmingham airports, both of which are located approximately an hour’s drive away from Gloucester via the M5.
