Car Hire Harlington

Harlington is a suburb of West London, forming part of the wider area of Harlington and Hayes. Originally a small village, it has flourished following the construction of Heathrow Airport, which has proved to be a major boost to the local economy. Aside from being so close to a major transport hub, Harlington is one of the quieter parts of London, a world away from the buzz of the city centre. The suburb is, in truth, closer to the border with Berkshire and Slough than it is to Central London, but it’s also within easy reach of the countryside. Harlington is also surrounded by plenty of green space itself, still retaining the air of a traditional English village. If shopping is your thing, the town of Hayes is just to the north, easily accessible by road.

Ideal car

The winding roads of Harlington and other parts of the Hillingdon area mean that the most sensible option for driving here is a small supermini, which will also help to save on fuel costs.

Important things to note

The A4 Bath Road runs alongside the south of Harlington. It is a major thoroughfare for traffic leading to Heathrow Airport.
Bus services through the suburb are pretty rare, although diverted traffic from the airport is common during roadworks.
If you want to get onto the motorway network, there is a turn-off onto the M4 near the A408 Sipson Road.

Highlights & Hotspots

In neighbouring Hayes, the Beck Theatre is a good place to see local actors and performers take to the stage. Opera, pantomime, drama, comedy and even films are on show here, not to mention one-off live music concerts.
Staying in Hayes, the Grand Union Canal runs through the town, going close to the northern edge of Harlington. Boat rides are available throughout the town, while the canalside path will take you through some glorious countryside.
Harlington is within easy reach of several top local golf courses. Thorney Park Golf Course is just three miles easy, while the A437 will take you north towards Stockley Pines, which is usually pretty busy in summer.
Also nearby is the London Motor Museum. A modern museum, it is home to over 200 cars from past and present, ranging from American muscle cars to European supercars. It is one of the few museums in the UK dedicated entirely to motoring.

Airport Information

London Heathrow Airport is just a few hundred metres south of Harlington. It is the biggest and busiest airport in the UK, with five terminals for passengers. Destinations in just about every single continent are served by Heathrow.
Getting there couldn’t be simpler. All you need to do is take the A437 southbound to the A4, which then has several exits onto Northern Perimeter Road.
