A trip to Williamson Park is a must for anyone visiting the city, particularly in summer, as it hosts numerous outdoor events such as concerts and theatre performances. This stunning park is home to the tropical Butterfly house, as well as a great play area for kids and acres of plush parkland.
History enthusiasts should be sure to visit the impressive Lancaster Castle. This well-preserved fort was formerly known as “Witches Tower”, as it was used during the Pendle Witches’ Trial in 1612. Guided tours are available as well as the opportunity to experience being locked in the dungeon.
If you fancy an afternoon learning about Lancaster’s heritage, then the city is home to numerous museums. The Maritime Museum, located on the river banks, boasts stunning Georgian Architecture and array of exhibits regarding the city’s golden age of industry.
