Among other things, Boston is famous for being home to the world’s largest St Patrick’s Day parade, Harvard University and Fenway Park; home to the world-famous Boston Red Sox baseball team. Boston had a big role in helping the US gain independence in the 18th century and since then, the city has flourished. Highlights & Hotspots

The Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown is a monument to those who lost their lives in the American Civil War in 1775. Admission is free while many maritime relics such as the Charlestown Navy Yard are also nearby.
The Museum of Fine Arts on 465 Huntington Avenue is the city’s largest art museum. French impressionist paintings and an array of works from Monet sit alongside Ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian works. While there’s also a museum with portraits of local heroes like Samuel Adams.
The Sam Adams Brewery on 30 Germania Street, Jamaica Plain, has tours of the site as well as free samples once the tour finishes. The Harpoon Brewery offers the same thing and they are both a must for any beer lovers.
The Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile route which takes in 16 historic sites around Boston, is a great way of exploring the city as a whole. Beginning at Boston Common, it takes in the Old State House and Old North Church, among other things.
