Introduction
The principal city of Colorado, Denver is a city which, although not as notable as many other metropolises in the States, is no less vibrant. The city has more than its fair share of museums, galleries, boutiques and fine eateries which aren’t anything like as expensive to visit as their equivalents in more upscale places. Despite its location close to the snowy Rockies, Denver is a city which is said to enjoy around 300 days of sunshine a year. In spite of the fact that its skyline reflects a modern city, Denver does have its fair share of old-style buildings which hint at its past as a small provincial town lying remotely on a rocky landscape.

Important things to note
Although recent upgrades to the city’s public transport have been completed, traffic during peak hours on weekdays is still heavy in the city.
If asked to pay money at a toll at any highways in the city, the cost is usually between $2-4. Without the relevant in-car device, that could rise to $25.
If parking on streets in the city centre on Sundays, you don’t have to pay a thing. Otherwise, it’s $1 per hour at other times.
Highlights & Hotspots
Denver Children’s Museum is a great place to take the whole family. Exhibits hinting at Colorado’s history as well as interactive displays make this museum a good place to while away a few hours on a cold winter’s afternoon.
More money is printed in Denver than any other place in the country, something that’s reflected at the Denver Mint. Tours are available daily, where you can learn about the history of the Dollar and the Mint’s role in Denver’s growth.
Denver Zoo is a good place for the family to visit. One of the city’s main attractions, the stars of the show here are the bears who reside near Colorado rock outcroppings which reflect their natural habitat. The zoo is open almost every day of the year.
Denver is a city with a strong connection to brewing. The Great American Beer Festival, which takes place every October in venues throughout the city, is testament to that. Be sure to drink responsibly though!
