Car Hire Providence

The capital of the US state of Rhode Island, Providence is one of the most enticing cities for visitors in the whole of New England. Its location on the North Atlantic coast coupled with the city’s almost secluded nature makes it an ideal place to stay for anyone wanting to explore New England without finding yourself stuck in massive crowds of people. As one of the oldest cities in the US, Providence has a huge number of historical sites to see inside-out, not to mention many examples of colonial-era architecture which date back to the 17th century. Being the state capital, Providence has more than its fair share of cultural and sporting venues, boasting numerous museums, galleries and concert halls.

Ideal car

Purely for coping with the tightly-packed and gridded streets in most of the suburbs of Providence, a small car is an absolute necessity if you want to get around on four wheels.

Important things to note

Downcity Providence is pretty compact, meaning that it could prove difficult for those driving larger vehicles to get around.
The I-95 is the main route going into and out of Providence, although some of other routes including the 146 coming in westbound are pretty handy too.
Both the I-95 and I-195 can get busy, especially during rush hours when people are commuting between Providence and Boston.
