Important things to note

There are three main roads in Waikiki city centre these are Kalakaua Avenue, Kuhio Avenue and Ala Wai Boulevard, making navigating through the city fairly straightforward.
There are ample parking facilities throughout Waikiki, particularly at the beaches and at other tourist attractions such as the zoo.
On many streets throughout the city, on-street parking is not allowed during morning and evening rush-hours. This law is heavily enforced so it’s strongly advisable to adhere to this rule.

Waikiki is home to numerous beaches which offer different activities to suit a range of tastes and interests. Kuhio Beach Park offers a diverse mix of activities, from sunbathing to swimming and outrigger-canoe rides. There are also cafes, restaurants and snack bars on the seafront as well as numerous other helpful amenities. The beach also hosts evening and sunset parties.
Animal lovers will enjoy a visit to Honolulu Zoo which is home to over 950 different animals and enclosures span across a huge 42 acre space. Animals include elephants, Komodo Dragons and primates amongst many others. You can also enjoy a night time guided tour of the park with one of the Zoo’s fabulous Twilight Tours.
Active holiday makers will embrace the challenge of hiking around Diamond Head. This impressive landmark is located a stone’s throw from the city centre and boasts stunning panoramic views of the city and waterfront. This 760 foot crater offers a variety of different hiking trails suitable for different levels. You can also explore the old military bunkers and underground tunnels.

Airport Information

Honolulu International Airport is located approximately eight miles from Waikiki and is accessible via the I-H-I E or HI-92 E roads.
The airport is the main terminal serving Hawaii as a whole and tends to be as busy as many other airports on the US mainland.
